Mode of Action Protec acts as a powerful ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitor. Both Propiconazole and Difenoconazole belong to the triazole group and act as demethylation inhibitors (DMI). They aggressively block the metabolic pathway that produces ergosterol—a vital structural component of fungal cell membranes. Without ergosterol, the fungal cell walls collapse, completely stopping the growth and reproduction of the mycelium and preventing spore formation.
